Cat Boarding Policies

We welcome your cat to the Catnip Suites, where our veterinarians, veterinary technicians and trained assistants will care for your cat while you are away. We are happy to perform additional services during your cat's stay, including physical examinations, vaccinations, dental cleanings, senior testing, and grooming.

For the health and safety of your cat and others in our facility, we have developed some important policies for you to review.

All Cats Admitted Must Be Current On The Following:

  1. EXAMINATION BY A CAT DOCTOR VETERINARIAN WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS.
  2. CURRENT ON VACCINATIONS: FVRCP (Distemper/Upper-Respiratory Viruses Combo) and RABIES every 3 years for most cats.  (Feline Leukemia Vaccination for cats who go outdoors and have exposure to other Outdoor Cats).
  3. CURRENTLY DEWORMED:  Treated with a broad-spectrum de-wormer or a negative fecal test within the last 12 months.
  4. FLEA TREATMENT (Cheristin, Revolution, Advantage or approved equivalent) applied to your cat in the last 30 days.  (Cats not current on an approved flea preventative will be treated at owner's expense).
  5. CURRENT KNOWN FELV/FIV STATUS.  Strictly indoor cats should have a record of a past test or be tested.  Cats who are outdoors and have exposure to other cats should be tested yearly.

IF YOUR CAT IS PAST DUE FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE, YOUR CAT WILL BE EXAMINED AND UPDATED AT YOUR EXPENSE.  CATS THAT HAVE HAD AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO VACCINATIONS, DEWORMERS, OR ANY OF THE FLEA TREATMENTS MAY BE EXEMPTED FROM THESE REQUIREMENTS BY VETERINARIAN APPROVAL.

CATS THAT DO NOT EAT FOR 48 HOURS WILL BE EXAMINED, HAND-FED AND/OR GIVEN AN APPETITE STIMULANT AT AN ADDITIONAL COST.

IF YOUR CAT BECOMES ILL WHILE BOARDING IT WILL NEED TO BE HOSPITALIZED AND EXAMINED BY ONE OF OUR VETERINARIANS.  WE WILL THEN CONTACT YOU WITH OUR RECOMMENDATIONS. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COSTS OF THIS EXAMINATION AND ANY TREATMENTS WE FEEL ARE NECESSARY FOR THE COMFORT OF YOUR CAT.

Additional Policies To Be Aware of Before Boarding

We prefer you bring a generous supply of your cat's regular food(s) that we will feed during their stay.  IF YOU DO NOT BRING YOUR CAT'S REGULAR FOOD WE WILL FEED A SIMILAR HIGH QUALITY, PREMIUM DRY FOOD WITH OCCASIONAL CANNED FOOD WHILE BOARDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL DAILY COST.

If you plan to have additional veterinary services performed while your cat is boarding, be sure to let us know ahead of time and we will prepare an estimate of the cost of these services to help you plan ahead.

  • Cats must be in good health and free of signs of contagious illness. Cats with contagious illness cannot be boarded at our facility.
  • Cats with ongoing, non-contagious, medical problems and cats receiving medication must have an examination by our doctors prior to or during their initial boarding period so that we are up-to-date with the status of your cat's medical condition.  For example, a cat with Diabetes Mellitus must be examined by a doctor.
  • If your cat has been recently seen, there may not be a need for another full exam.  The need for an exam will vary depending on the age of the cat and the medical conditions involved and is at the discretion of our doctors.
  • Remember to bring all your cat's current medications, with dosage, dosing frequencies, and any special instructions you wish us to follow.

You must fill out a Boarding Admission Form, and an additional Boarding Medication Form (if your cat is on meds) so give yourself plenty of time to complete these when you are dropping your cat off. Other options include visiting us before your scheduled boarding, calling us to fax or mail you the forms, or you may download the form by clicking here.
