I have always been facinated and in love with animals, but especially cats.  Cats, to me, are the perfect creatures, although I really do appreciate most of them.  In pursuit of becoming a veterinarian, I initially graduated from the University of Washington here in Seattle with an undergraduate degree in Zoology.  I then took an opportunity to attend veterinary school and graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996.  We moved to the San Francisco Bay Area (Benicia, CA) after Dr. Nettie graduated veterinary school and worked there for about a year when we discovered that Dr. Haupt was looking for a buyer of The Cat Doctor.  Having lived many years in Seattle, we were eagar to return to the area, and the prospect of working for a practice that placed as much value on cats and quality veterinary care as we did was a perfect match for us.  We started working at The Cat Doctor in 2003, and at the end of 2006 we officially purchased the practice.

I am a current member of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners as well as an active member of the VIN (Veterinary Information Network) community.

In my free time, I enjoy time at home with Dr. Nettie and our multiple cat children.  Starting in 2017 I developed a strong interest in endurance sports such as OWS (open water swimming), road bike racing and running - and all together in the sport of triathlon.  I completed my first local Triathlon in 2017, and has been working at it ever since.  I hope to someday compete in an Ironman Triathlon, an endurace open-water swim event, ride in the RAMROD race, and finish an ultramarathon.  Prior to this recent obscession with endurance sports, I was an avid mountaineer and backcountry hiker/camper.  I still have many trails and peaks left to climb.  I also enjoy vintage Italian motorscooters (I have  a 74 Vespa/65 Lambretta), Animal Welfare Causes (The Paw Project), Meditation/Yoga, and travel (when I have had the chance to do it).

A lifelong cat lover, my childhood companions were my cats.  Stray cats, injured cats, cats other people couldn't keep anymore; I did my best to take care of them and love them.  Once I snuck a special female cat into my bedroom where she proceeded to deliver her kittens in my dresser drawer.  I read everything I could about cats and was one of those many kids who dreamed about being a veterinarian when I grew up.  As a young adult I discovered that there were feline-only vets and this fascinated me.  After studying art and a getting my BFA (Photography) from the University of Washington, I followed my husband, Dr. Craig to the University of Minnesota where I later graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001.  After vet school I spent my first couple years at Benicia Cat Clinic in the San Francisco area, then we moved back to the PNW in 2003 and became a co-owners of The Cat Doctor in 2006.

I am so proud of our talented team who share our passion for cats and helping them live better lives.  My areas of clinical interest include geriatrics and feline behavior & husbandry.

I enjoy hanging out with my cats, going to the beach with Dr. Craig, exercising, and healthy vegan cuisine.  I am also a huge Beatles fan and collect cat books.

My path to feline practice, was not a linear one by any means! I am from Sonoma County, California which is a rural area. I knew from a young age I wanted to be a veterinarian and had animals in my life any way I could. I grew up with cats, dogs, rats, chickens, and rode horses. I was very active in the FFA, where I raised pigs and rabbits, and I worked at an organic dairy farm while I obtained my B.S. in Animal Science at CSU, Chico. Once I started working in small animal general practice, I quickly discovered my passion for feline patients. Feline patients bring me joy through their curious personalities, independent spirits, and the rewarding challenge of diagnosing and treating their ailments, fostering a deep sense of fulfillment in nurturing their well-being. In the field of feline medicine, I have special interest in pain management, surgery, and diagnostic imaging. Having been affected by multiple California wildfires, I also have a special interest in natural disaster relief.

I am the most recent in a long line of cat-crazy women and have never lived a day without a cat companion- and don't intend to. I have a special space in my heart for geriatric kitties and love caring for them through their golden years. I currently have one old orange tabby, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that is obsessed with her.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading fiction books, doing embroidery, and traveling via cruise with my family and husband! I am very excited to connect with the team and clients since community is so important to me!
