The Cat Doctor Veterinary Center was founded in 1989, by Dr. Kirk H. Haupt.
Dr. Haupt spent most of his veterinary career admiring and focusing on his feline patients. He began his career at Washington State University, obtaining his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1977. After graduation, Dr. Haupt pursued a challenging career path of advanced training and in 1983 acheived the distinction of board certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). He then spent several years at Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine teaching future veterinarians. In 1987, Dr. Haupt left academia to pursue his desire to focus his career solely on the care of the feline patient. In 1989, with the encouragement of his colleagues and friends, he opened The Cat Doctor Veterinary Center in a then sparsely-poplulated Federal Way, Washington. Feline-only veterinary facilities were uncommon at that time, and it took dedication, effort, and personal sacrifice to get his dream off-the-ground and to where it is today. As of November of 2006, Dr. Haupt made the decision to retire from active practice.
Dr. Kirk Haupt left a legacy of leadership by example, focus, dedication, and high moral principles. He created a wonderful place where concern for the companion feline patient's care and well-being permeates the atmosphere and defines the very purpose of its existence.
A place where a concerned cat caretaker's love and respect for their beloved companions is truly understood and cherished.
A place we love.
From all of us that have been touched by your dedicated work, Dr. Haupt,
We thank you!
